An electrified performance boost sees the new Mercedes-AMG E53 match the old E63 in power output. The 3.0L straight 6 turbocharged engine that makes 443 hp and 413 lb ft of torque on its own, is coupled with a 161 hp electric motor, a 28.6 kWh battery, a nine-speed transmission and Mercedes’ variable 4Matic+ four-wheel drive system. Combined, the system can pump out 577 hp in normal mode and 603 hp in race mode. All of this will accelerate the car from 0 to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds and allow up to 62 miles of electric only range at speeds of up to 87 mph.
