Nissan’s new Z car now has a Nismo version, but it’s automatic only and carrying more weight. Nissan Motorsports have given the Z a going over adding a bit more power and torque, 420 and 426 respectively, subtle styling changes and a track day focus.
The choice of the nine-speed automatic transmission comes as Nissan claim their buyers want faster lap times, and that this is how they are achieving that. The 0-60 mph time in the auto is 0.6 seconds quicker than a manual would be with Nissan revising the clutch packs with extra plates for quicker shifting.
