A mild performance boost and refreshed styling at the key features of the 2022 Volkswagen Polo GTI. The sixth-generation Volkswagen Polo went through it mid-life update at the beginning of 2021, and now the range topping GTI model has joined the party.
The engine remains the same 2.0L turbocharged EA888 four-cylinder as before, but with a little extra power adding into the mix. Power increases from 197 hp to 204 hp, whilst peak torque sticks to 236 lb-ft. With only a small lift in power, it’s surprising to see the 2022 Polo GTI reduce it’s 0-62 mph acceleration time by 2 tenths of a second down to 6.5 seconds. This may be attributed to revised calibration of the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and XDS electronic differential.
