After years of teasing and boasting, the Lucid Air has arrived with a huge battery, big power and impressive performance. The Californian start-up have developed the Air on a completely new platform with in-house designed electric motors that feature high power density and efficiency as core designed values. The packaging of the car is promised to provide generous space for both passengers and luggage, and the drag coefficient of the exterior is rated at a very low 0.21.
Starting with the big 113 kWh battery pack for the top range Air utilising a 900+ volt system, Lucid are claiming strong performance from their all-electric saloon. 1,065 bhp of power from the extreme Dream Edition is certainly a big number, with the Touring and Grand Touring Editions set to bring that power output down to 612 bhp and 789 bhp respectively. They are also quoting a 0-60 mph acceleration time of only 2.5 seconds and a mighty impressive 9.9 second quarter mile run.
