2016 Ferrari 488 Spider

Convertible · 2016

The Spider versions of Ferrari’s mid engined V8’s equal 99% of the performance from the Coupe, with wind in your hair and a more intense sound of the screaming V8. The Ferrari 488 Spider continues this trend, with a retractable hard top roof that has been designed to be around 25 kilograms lighter than a comparable fabric soft-top. When compared to the Coupe, the 488 Spider tips the scales just 155 kilograms heavier, not bad considering the lack of a carbon tub. The aluminium spaceframe contributes greatly to keeping the weight down, despite the added structural stiffness required and the running gear for the retractable hard top roof.

The real star of the show with the Ferrari 488 Spider is the twin turbocharged V8 engine. Capable of 670 PS, The 488 was the first time Ferrari went the turbocharging route with their mid engined V8 model. This forced induction setup has increased the torque output to a peak of 560 lb-ft, transforming the driveability of the V8, and making the Ferrari 488 incredibly capable on the road and the track.
